Dr. Temple Grandin Answers Questions About Common Parenting Problems

Temple Grandin, PhD, is a Distinguished Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University.  Many companies around the world use facilities she has designed for handling livestock. She has also been instrumental in implementing animal welfare auditing programs used by McDonald's, Wendy’s, Whole Foods, and other corporations. Temple has appeared on numerous TV shows, such as 20/20 and Prime Time. Her books include Thinking in Pictures, Livestock Handling and Transport, and The Autistic Brain. Her books Animals in Translation and Visual Thinking have been on the New York Times Bestseller List. Temple was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in September 2017. In 2022, she was named a Colorado State University Distinguished Professor, and in 2023 was inducted into the Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame.

Dr. Eric Weiss

Regenerative Medicine Specialist, North Florida Stem Cells

Treating the Medical Side of Autism

Dr. Eric Weiss is a leader in advanced regenerative medicine, founder of the North Florida Stem Cells Clinic, and co-author of the memoir Educating Marston. He provides breakthrough stem cell therapies for various conditions, including osteoarthritis and traumatic brain injury, with a profound dedication to treating autism.

Inspired by his son Marston’s remarkable breakthrough in verbal communication through stem cell therapy, Dr. Weiss and his wife, Christine, wrote their memoir to empower and guide other families navigating the autism spectrum.

A graduate of Duke University Medical School, Dr. Weiss is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Beyond his clinic, he volunteers annually with "Hands Healing Hearts" to perform reconstructive surgeries for children in South America. Dr. Weiss lives in Jacksonville, Florida, and his work has been featured on LA Weekly and Wake Up with Marci.

Tina Marie Covington is an accomplished professional in the field of Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), holding a Ph.D. from Columbia University in the latter. She has made contributions to the education and support of individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, evidenced by her extensive work history and collaboration on peer-reviewed research.

With over two decades of experience, Covington’s career trajectory showcases her expertise and leadership capabilities. Her roles as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Anderson Center for Autism and Executive Director at the Hawthorne Foundation highlight her ability to oversee complex organizations, manage budgets, and ensure adherence to regulations while promoting evidence-based practices.

Covington’s academic background includes obtaining an MA in Special Education/Behavior Disorders and a Ph.D. in Special Education/Applied Behavior Analysis. As a licensed behavior analyst and certified educator, Covington has held various teaching and administrative positions, including Adjunct Professor at Manhattanville College and Program Coordinator at Hawthorne Country Day School. Her work in curriculum development, staff training, and research in ABA has contributed to the field of special education and behavior analysis.
